NUFFIELD TECHNICAL TOURS

‚Äč

30 MARCH - 01 APRIL, 2020
STARTING FROM QUEENSTOWN

Technical Tours are a deep dive into farming systems. The tours are small groups and allow you to talk farmer to farmer in-depth. There are two options available. They will depart from Queenstown once the Triennial Tour is complete.

ARABLE AND INNOVATION TECHNICAL TOUR

Starts in Queenstown and finishes in Christchurch

In a volatile world with dynamic and discerning international markets, New Zealand farming is focussing on its capacity to move with agility to meet the changing global food and fibre production landscape. The emergence of technology brings with it, enormous opportunity to exploit our ingenuity and demonstrate our unique advantages in biodiversity, conservation and compliance. This 2-day, 2-night tour will take you off the beaten track to less well-known parts of the South Island from Queenstown to Christchurch providing exceptional insights.

ANIMAL PASTURE, PHILOSOPHY OF PROCESSES

Starts in Queenstown and finishes in Queenstown

The core theme of this tour is the balanced management of climate, soils and innovation which produce some of the most highly productive livestock in the country. Delegates will be exposed to farming systems of all kinds from large scale organic livestock to high input grass fed meat production and dairy. There will be visits to processing facilities and a research hub in the course of the 2-day, 2-night tour giving insights into the philosophies around technologies, marketing and mitigation practices for a pasture to plate approach.
